This is a great event we offer where you can rent space at the store and sell your items "garage sale" style. You may choose either an indoor table or outdoor space (covered to protect in case of rain) to sell your items. Lots of customers have been asking when we are going to host one again so they can come out and shop. Here are the details.

It will be on Saturday November 1st from 9AM till 2PM. You can rent 4 feet of indoor table space for $10.00 and the table and chair are included, or for $5.00 you get 4 feet of outdoor space (in front of the store entrance) and you must bring your own table. We do have chairs if you need them. This is a cash only event and you are responsible for all transactions. Please bring cash so you can make change for your sales. If you own items from direct-sale companies, then you may sell them, but this event is not for direct-sale vendors. This event is only for consumers who are looking to sell their own personal items. You can come as early as 8:30 on the day of the event to set up. We will also have a runner at lunch time to pick up food for those of you renting a space. This way you do not have to leave your area, as you are responsible for your area and product.

Some basics,,,

All tools must be in working condition. Please no broken product. If you are selling "partial" product such as a partial sticker sheet, etc. then it must be clearly marked as such. All product must be marked with a price. I suggest going to an office store and picking up a package of pricing labels and some shopping bags. You may rent up to 2 spaces if you would like to.

Sign up fast as we sold out of space very quickly last time. SIP will advertise the event for you. This is a great way to sell your gently used items and make a little cash for yourself.

Many people don't know all TV broadcasts will be digital starting in Feb 2009 . That means if you're like me and have a hand me down TV with bunny ears it will cease to function. The FCC has faced some criticism for not doing enough to educate the public so feel free to pass this on to anyone you know who might be affected. Non english speakers, the elderly and those without access to the internet are especially likely to be affected.

The government is offering a rebate program for $40 or $80 to cover the cost of a converter box. You can go to this website for the details and to sign up. It takes about a month to get yours in the mail. I just got mine.

Also, remember TV's and electronic equipment can't go in the regular trash. If you live in Pinellas County you can go to their website for recycling and disposal information including mobile collection sites.

More CVS Airwick and nail polish

I made 2 trips to CVS today. At the first store I only purchased 2 Sally Hansen Nail polishes. For some reason the same coupon I used yesterday that gave me 3 polishes for $3.00 only gave me 2 today. Each store seems to do things their own way and it's very frustrating! The first store was out of Air Wick so I only purchased the polishes and a bag of M&M's for the overage. I spent $0.32 oop.

At the second CVS store I purchased 3 more Air Wick Mini kits ($4.99 on sale with a $4.00 QPN to make each one $0.99). However, I messed this up and took 3 Air Wick QPNs but 2 were for only $3.00 off and 1 was for $4.00 off. I may return the 2 that cost more and then purchase more using the right coupon. It was sill a good deal just not as good as I was expecting. I also purchased the CVS brand make-up removing wipes. I had a $2.00 off QPN and a $3/$15. My total oop was a little over $3.00. I was expecting to spend $1.00 and some change. I also earned $1.00 ECB for the make-up remover cloths.

On a totally different note I emailed Apple & Eve about their products and asked where I could find certain products. They were nice enough to send me lots of coupons. One is for a free Apple & Eve product and another $3.50 in money off QPNs. YEAH! Up until recently I never contacted companies to ask for QPNs but every one I have contacted has followed through in sending me some of their QPNs. Mighty Milk even sent me full sized samples of their products.

CVS Airwick, Photo book, and nail polish. Oh My!

I had a good day at CVS today. I did 2 separate transactions. In the first I had some IP coupons for Airwick Minis for $4.00 off. They were on sale for $4.99. I bought 3 and used a $3/$15 CVS coupon. This would have given me overage so I added a 6x8 photo book for $7.99. I used a $3.00 off mfg coupon making my OOP $6.36. I was not able to use my ECBs on this because I scanned the wrong card. So, I just paid it out of pocket. I earned $7.99 ECb on the photo book.

For my second transaction I bought a twin 12 oz pack of Clear Care Saline solution and 3 Sally Hansen Tough as Nails polish. For the Clear Care I earned $3.00 ECB and will send in for the $9.00 rebate. For the nail polish I used a $3.00 off when you by 2 Sally Hansen nail products. For some reason I was only able to use the coupon for $2.97. Probably because it was on sale for $0.99. So, the coupon was for more than the total cost of the product. That's the first time I have had CVS reduce the amount of a coupon but I still got the nail polish for free. I also added a $1.49 hot wheels car for my son who was along with me for this trip. I needed something as filler because the ECBs I had to spend were more than my total. I used another $3/$15coupon and ended up spending just $1.37 OOP.

After I receive my rebate for $9.00 I will have made money on these deals. Just $1.27but I still earned $10.99 EC and have another $3.00 ECB from my transaction earlier this week.

A couple of weeks ago I was able to get free band aids plus overage at Target by taking advantage of their store coupon for $5.00 off when you buy three of the following products including band aids. I already had 3 $1.00 off any band aids coupons & they were $1.98 for the character ones so I "made" $2.00 on the deal plus got enough bandaids for lots of boo boo's to come. The Target coupon is good through 07/31/08.
Today I got a .01 cent overage on Mentos gum at Publix. It was $1.09 & I used a .55 cent manufacturers coupon as well as their Publix coupon for .55.

CVS Clear Care

CVS has Clear Care Saline Solution, the only stuff I can use, at $14.99 for 12oz twin bottles. It earns $3.00 ECB. Not a great price on Clear Care but it is when you use the Clear Care Rebate and get $9.00 back. The rebate must be purchased before July 31, 2008and mailed by August 31, 2008. I have already done this rebate once and it took about 4 weeks for y check to com but it did arrive!

At the Publix at Curlew and Hwy 19 I found 1 bottle of Olay Regenerist Facial Scrub on the clearance rack for $4.49. I used a $3.00 mfg qpn and a $2.00 Publix qpn and got it for free. Publix reduced one qpn to $1.49 so I still had to pay tax. This was the second time I found this product marked down. Last week it was still on the shelf but was discounted to $5.99. I bought one then for $0.99. I really like the cleanser and love getting it for free!!

So we finally signed Finn up for a 529 college savings plan. It was time consuming to choose the right one. I did find some info that I thought would be of interest to a larger group.

When you shop for things like groceries and at CVS, you can get contributions made to your 529 account via the Upromise program. You can even get your family members to sign up and their purchases will count too. You might have seen their logo, a U inside a box on some of the groceries you've been buying. That was my intro to their program.

There are 4 different credit card programs that will link to your 529 account and deposit 1 or 1.5% of all your purchases. Those are Fidelity American Express (must be linked to a Fidelity 529), Citibank Upromise card, Baby Mint, and Future trust. Most of these will also give you considerably more than 1% on certain purchases or from certain retailers. They are all annual fee free cards.

If you're thinking about a private college, check out the sage scholars program. These schools match your deposits like a prepaid tuition plan.

I had a great day at Walgreen's. I did this deal that Rachael described and got 3 packs of pull ups (size 2t-3t) for $5.52, including tax. I was worried about these being too big for my little guy. He is still in 18 month clothes even though he is 2 years old but the 2t was the smallest size this Walgreen's had so I took a chance figuring that he would grow into them if they were too big. I was not planning on ever buying pull ups but James has started pulling off his diaper and a friend suggested that we try them. The good news is that they do fit. Only time will tell if he keeps them on or not.

I added another deal to the mix today while I was there. The Off Cutter 1 ounce bottles are 2 for $3.00 this week at Walgreen's. I used a $1.00 off coupon from the newspaper (6/15, sorry I don't know whether is was Red Plum or Super Saver) and combined that with a $1.00 off QPN from the Walgreen's Super Saver July book. I was able to use that one twice so for free I purchased 2 - 1 ounce bottles of the Cutter spray. YEAH!!

I spent just $5.52 for 87 pull ups and 2 - 1 ounce bottles of Off Cutter bug repellent!

I plan to go back tomorrow and use my $5.00 in Register Rewards to do the diaper deal again.

I don't often (okay never that I can remember) post pictures of my underwear on the Internet. But I just had to share. After months of entering the Hanes Wedgie Free Wednesday Sweeps I finally won! They don't tell you that you won they just send you a pair of panties. So, I received mine today! I was so excited but I laughed when I opened them.

YES they really are THAT BIG!

Every time, with the exception of last week, I selected the bikini version. Last week they were out of those so I thought I selected the hi-cut brief. I guess I selected the full coverage granny pantie!

Needless to say my husband is not amused but man are they comfortable!

Thanks to Hot Coupon World I found some great deals at Target on Gulf to Bay in Clearwater.

I had several Ziploc coupons. Near the cash register there were 25 count bags of sandwich size Ziploc for $1.00. I used a 55 cents off, a 40 cents off, a $1.00 off (so one package was free) and a $1.50 off when you buy 2. Total I purchased 5 25-count packages for $1.55. The regular price for 100 bags is $2.74.

I also purchased a package of Soleil Razors for 43 cents. They were marked down to $4.43 and I used the $4.00 QPN from this past Sundays paper.

Every time I go to Target or Walmart I take some of the Muir Glen Organic Tomato QPNs. I had 3 QPNs on me today and got each can of Tomato sauce for just 24 cents.

Finally I bought some of the Pampers Splashers. They were priced at $9.99 but I had a Target QPN from Sundays paper for $2.00 and a Mfgr. QPN for $1.50 making the total $6.49.

I also made a trip to Toys R Us and used the free train QPN. I got lucky with the cashier. He let me do 2 transactions so I was able to purchase 2 trains today and only had to pay 77 cents in tax for eah train. YEAH!

Not a great day but not a bad one either! I plan to go back and get the Sally Hansen Nail product and 2 more of the Oral-B cross action toothbrushes.

Edit: I had to go back to a drug store this evening so I went back to CVS and did one more deal. I purchased 2 Sally Hansen Color Lock Nail colors for $7.99, with a $3.00 off coupon when you buy 2. It generated $10 in ECB. I also purchased some calcium citrate for $10.49. I used all of my ECBs from the first transaction today and then paid $1.47 OOP.

I was looking around Coupon World for good deals before I went out to do my weekly grocery shopping. I found this great link to a Hungry Man dinner coupon. It's actually entry into a sweepstakes but after you enter you can print a $1.00 off any Hungry Man dinner. The dinners are currently B1G1F at Publix so I used 2 of the $1.00coupons and got 2 dinners for $1.29. I would not normally buy these dinners but the deal was good enough so I did. I may go back and get some more. I was not sure the cashier would take both coupons bu she did. I know some people have found other coupons fr the dinners but this was all I could find.

The cashier did kick back one of my coupons that was expired. She told me they will take Publix expired coupons but not manufacturer coupons that are expired.

My over all savings was good. I used $17.05 in coupons and another $25.56 in store savings. I still spent $87.63 but there were a lot of things I needed that I didn't have coupons for and I had to pay full price. It kills me to do that now!!

What should a diaper cost

I hate paying too much for diapers or even worse not knowing if I am getting a good deal or not. I use to buy Pampers Cruisers exclusively at Sam's because I saw a TV show a few years back that said the wholesale cubs, like Sam's and Costco, were the best place to buy diapers because they would have the cheapest price. Well, you can imagine my surprise when I found the exact same diapers box (same size and number of diapers) at Publix for the same price and Publix allows coupons. Sam's does not.

Since I made this discovery I have been on a mission to buy diapers at the cheapest price possible. I buy Proctor and Gamble Pampers but am willing to switch between the Cruisers (my preferred) and the Baby Dry. I had a bad experience with Huggies and try to stay away from them but for the right price I might consider switching.

I hate how in the Sunday circulars each week, the stores never list the exact size and quantity they advertise as being on sale. For instance the flier will list a mega box as being on sale but they don't ever tell you how many are in the mega box so you can not price compare and determine if it's the best price.. This makes it really hard to know if your getting a good deal or not. Angie at Baby Cheapskate has simplified the process for Premium Diapers and Luvs by putting the quantity for each type of box (mega, super ega, jumbo, etc.) in a spread sheet.

Adjustable Waist Shorts for Boys

I bought 3 pairs of shorts from WalMart on Wednesday because they were only $2.50 each. They are made of a heavy duty light weight denim like fabric. They have pockets on the sides (cargo short style) with a button waist and zipper. I bought size 18 mon thinking James would grow into them. I was delighted when, after washing them, I realized they have an adjustable waist and it's adjustable to a very small size. James is 24 months old and tall but skinny so buying shorts or pants for him is challenging. The 12 month size shorts fit in the waist but are too short in the length and the 24 month size shorts fall off him. The shorts I bought at WalMart seem to fit him well both in the waist and in length and they will grow with him. For $2.50 I thought it was a great deal.

If you are thinking about buying some the shorts were in the baby section and on clearance at the Super WalMart on Tampa Road. They are "George" brand and were available in 3 colors, navy blue, dark brown, and tan.

I read on another blog that the Garanimal t-shirts for boys were marked $2.50 on clearance but ring up for $1.00. I scanned the only shirt I could find and it was $2.50 but I am going to try another WalMart today. I have bought the Garanimal shirts before and they hold up well.

UPDATE: I went to another WalMArt today (Friday) and found the same shorts I bought yesterday for $2.00 a pair. They were not clearance like the ones I bought on Wednesday but when I did a price check they were 50 cents cheaper than the ones I bought on Wednesday. YEAH!! Unfortunately, I was not able to locate any clearance priced Garanimals shirts but I did find some FSU shirts that were marked way down so I got James one of those.

When I'm bored, I come up with taglines for the clothesline movement. They have "right to dry," but I prefer the very British "Hang it all!" or the Bondsian "Live and let dry."

The clothesline movement? You might be asking. Umm, we need one of those? Yes, yes we do. You see, it comes down to this idea in the middle of the 20th century in America that the ownership of a machine to do -- well, anything -- was a banner of respectability. Washing dishes, blending your non-dairy whipped topping, mowing your lawn, drying your clothes: power 'em with fossil fuels or be one of the unwashed masses.

We don't want that in our neighborhoods, said the rather small-time powers-that-be, and many communities wrote a ban on outdoor clothes drying along with the removal of livestock and various more hateful bans. One such neighborhood was Awbrey Butte, Oregon, where a resident was threatened with legal action when she chose to flout the CC&Rs and hang her clothes out to dry in the plentiful warm summer sun. She might have done better with this fanciful (and spendy) clothes drying "tree."

Watch out, neighborhood boards, homeowner associations, town councils. Because the clothesline is coming back. Many of my friends now consider the last rains of spring to herald "drying weather," and extoll the fresh scent of line-hung laundry, along with the savings on their power bill and the nice feeling of appropriate use of one's precious resources. And if you want my opinion? I like the way clothes look, hung out to dry. The comeback of clotheslines is a win, win, win!

Rumor has it that Publix will have a $5 off when you spend $35 in this weeks mailing. It is good until July 30th. I really hope we get this here in Florida. Publix offers 1 cent deals and doubles and triples coupons in other states but not here in Florida.

Editted to add...nope, no coupon here in Florida. Knowing that Publix offer such great deals elsewhere but not here in the State where they are based makes me want to quit shopping there!
